Junior School



Pre-School to Class V

At JKPS we strongly believe that “Children are not things to be molded, but are people to be unfolded.” Pre- school and Pre-Primary curriculum is designed to guide the children through a learner centered approach in the most efficient manner according to their own ability to cope with the formal learning situation in primary grades. The children are involved into ample activities as the children learn the most through them. Computer aided learning programme has been adopted to make learning interesting and effective. Various audio-visual modules are used to teach the concepts.



STUDENT LIFE : Classes I-III

JKPS offers an innovative curriculum that promotes collaborative work, focusses on promoting cognitive, physical, social and emotional development of each learner. To avoid stress and to make learning an enjoyable experience, the school acknowledges and aims to meet students’ diverse needs. The primary school focuses on the students’ need to know, understand and develop the ability to experiment, explore and discover through an interactive environment. The activities are designed to enhance the interest of students in the subject besides linking the information with their daily life to keep it relevant to them. The session is divided into three terms. First Term from April to August, Second Term from September to December and third term from January to March. Each term will have a cycle of Unit Test and internal evaluation for Scholastic areas. Students will be assessed on regular basis during the teaching and learning process in order to develop a sense of curiosity and desire to explore. Assessment will be done through a continuous and interactive process involving group activities, physical activities, presentations, assignments, speaking and comprehension skills. Children are observed and evaluated at regular intervals and the progress report is shared time to time with the parents. The focus is on identifying the talents of the learner and to empower him with positive inputs.



Classes IV-V

At JKPS students are taught to be lifelong learner through independent thinking, reading, writing and analytical skills. The activities are selected to enhance the interest of students in the subject besides linking the information with their daily life to keep it relevant to them. The session is divided into two terms. First Term from April to September. Second Term from October to March. The evaluation is based on formal tests, informal assessments and activities. Each term has a cycle of unit test and one Term End Exam (Half yearly /Final Exam) for Scholastic areas. Emphasis is also laid on discipline, regularity in attendance, sincerity, behaviour, values, attitude towards peers, teachers, other school staff, parents and society.

Senior School



Classes VI-VIII

At JKPS we are committed to provide Holistic education through our curricular and co curricular activities that aim for at creating an eclectic blend of ancient and modern; Indian and international; traditional virtues. Each session is divided into two Terms. Each term has a cycle of Periodic Test and one Term End Exam (Half yearly /Final Exam) for Scholastic areas. Half yearly exam includes Term-I syllabus. Final Exam includes syllabus as follows Class VI: 10% of Term-I and complete syllabus of Term 2 Class VII: 20% of Term-I and complete syllabus of Term 2 Class VIII: 30% of Term-I and complete syllabus of Term 2 Emphasis is also laid on discipline, regularity in attendance, sincerity, behaviour, values, attitude towards peers, teachers, other school staff, parents and society.



Classes IX-X
Class IX

Each session has 3 Periodic Assessment (Pre Mid Term, Mid Term and Post Mid Term) and Final Exam for scholastic areas. 10% weightage will be given to Periodic Assessment, 5% to Notebook submission, 5% to subject enrichment activities and 80% to the term end exam Average of best two is taken for the calculation of periodic Assessment and Subject Enrichment activities. Pre Mid Term includes 30% syllabus, Mid Term 50% syllabus, Post Mid Term 75% syllabus and Final Exam 100% syllabus. Maximum marks for each weekly test will be 25; Pre Mid Term 40; Mid Term, Post Mid Term and Final Exams for 80 marks.



Class X

Evaluation is a continuous and spread out evenly over the entire academic session. There will be 2 cycles of Unit Test. Half yearly examination will be held in the month of September, Pre -board I will be held in the month of December and Pre – Board II will be held in January

Attendence

All students are required to complete 75% of attendance to make him / her eligible to take the examination.



Class XI

Evaluation is a continuous and spread out evenly over the entire academic session. There are 2 cycles of Periodic Assessment and 2 Terminal Exams. First Term is from July to September and Second Term from October to March. 20% weightage is awarded to Periodic Assessment, 20% to I term Exam and 60% to II Term Exam in the calculation of subject aggregate. For promotion to the next higher class, a student in class XI must obtain pass percentage in theory and in practical separately in addition to the pass percentage in aggregate in order to qualify in each subject.



Class XII

Evaluation is a continuous and spread out evenly over the entire academic session. There will be 2 cycles of Unit Test. Half yearly examination will be held in the month of September, Pre -board I will be held in the month of December and Pre – board II will be held in January.

ICT & Smart Class

Classroom learning is an intrinsic part of all round personality development of children. We, at JKPS, have spacious and well-lit classrooms, equipped with 'smart class' programme and smart boards in each and every classroom to facilitate teaching and learning process.

Smart class is a comprehensive solution designed to assist teachers in meeting with their day to day class room challenges, thereby, enhancing students’ academic performance with simple, practical and meaningful technology with instant access to relevant instructor-led-multimedia content. The material comprising of detailed instructions is mapped exactly for a specific curriculum guidelines for use in the class. JKPS initiated the use of smart board in all classrooms in the session 2012-13.

ICT PROJECTS

Every year students of classes V to X make presentations on the topics based on different subjects allocated to them. They, then, teach them in the class through their presentations. This gives them confidence and better understanding of the subjects taught during the academic session.

Remedial Classes

  • During the assembly time students of class XI and class XII can seek remedial teaching to clear their doubts with the prior permission.
  • On all working Saturdays, a special time-table is followed for those students requiring extra coaching. Any difficulty in this process may be reported to the Principal in writing.
