Yoga as we see it, is a great nourisher, a prodigious balancing agent for the body and mind, an exclusive region where an individual not only gains physical health but also acquires mental peace. Yoga has been prescribed through ancient eras of the Indian culture as an active component of our daily well-being. It is even more relevant in the present context as a suitable panacea to a fast-paced lifestyle which is constantly aggrandizing stress driven by increasing societal anxieties and technical arduousness.
The benefits of Yoga have now been accepted globally and as a recognition, International Yoga Day is celebrated on June 21st each year. The health benefits of yoga are immense ranging from increased flexibility, increased muscle strength and tone, improved respiration, energy, and vitality, maintaining a balanced metabolism and weight reduction, etc. This is more than ever required in the current scenario when our lives of students are becoming increasingly sedentary.
In addition to physical gains, Yoga also helps decrease stress, improve intelligence, and makes an individual more aware and alive to his surroundings. With this as the backdrop, Yoga has been included as an active part of the daily school curriculum where students are encouraged to learn and practice Yoga in their daily lives. The Yoga instructor not only teaches Yoga but also enables each student to practice as per his or her capabilities, increasing individual fitness and strength.
Further, JKPS provides a plethora of opportunities and offers its students a launchpad to participate in interschool Yoga competitions. This allows students to not only actively adopt Yoga in their daily lives but also acquire skills in the spirit of healthy competition. JKPS understands the importance of Yoga that has been proved to improve both cognitive and physical skills and thus encourages Yoga in the lives of its young achievers.
