Performing art in education at Jaspal Kaur Public School provides students with the opportunity to engage their mind, body and emotion into a collaborative expression of all that it means to be an all-rounder. Throughout performances students explore and present great themes and ideas. These activities have helped the Jaspalians to gain confidence and develop empathyethical insight into the contradiction and paradoxes of human condition.
Instrumental or Western music department at JKPS is one of the unique and highly appreciated department which gives each child an opportunity to participate in a range of music enrichment activities. Classes are generally scheduled in school time. Students are taught in small groups, usually on the same instrument, and go on to join mixed instrumental groups and bands when they are considered ready by their instrumental music teachers.
Instruments generally offered in primary school include brass (trumpet, trombone and baritone), classical guitar, cello, clarinet, double bass, flute, tabla and drums. Students continue their practice at secondary level and outshine themselves in various performances.
Learning music has numerous benefits for school children. Music helps in gathering confidence creativity and learning skills that can be used across many subjects. Being able to go from learning notes and rhythms to producing meaningful music instills in our Jaspalians a sense of accomplishment and self-motivation. They start their day with meditation followed by paranama of Goddess Saraswati and then rendering Sabhad . Students are taught famous patriotic and folk songs during these classes.
Dance is ally for developing many of the attributes of a growing child. Dance helps children mature physically, emotionally, socially, and cognitively.
A comprehensive dance curriculum with professional training in folk and khathak is given to our Jaspalians. Coursework in dance explores the technical, stylistic, historical, analytical, cultural and performative aspects of the art of dance, providing a strong foundation for student to explore, experiment and develop personal creativity and artistry.
